An “Arts Center” for Suffield?
The Suffield Arts Council has taken on the responsibility
of getting an Arts Center started in Suffield. Our immediate
plan for the new Suffield Art Center initiative is to offer courses of interest to residents of Suffield and surrounding
communities. Once we have our courses built up, we will look into the possibility
of a permanent home for the Center, one that would be centrally located, privately operated and open to the public.
Even though exhibition and gallery
space would be part of a future facility, the Art Center
would be more of an educational center than a museum. Classes and programs would
encompass several disciplines in the visual, literary and performing arts including photography, jewelry making, crafts,
painting, pottery, sculpture, creative writing, music lessons and more. Classes
and programs would be designed for both children and adults. Until a permanent
facility could be arranged, classes would be held at various venues throughout town.
The Suffield Arts Center
would be designed for residents and visitors alike to express themselves and share their creativity, meet their neighbors
and experience the wonderful talents of the artistic community.
Please consider writing to us to share your opinions and ideas on this, to offer assistance, share your
ideas on what arts are needed, request classes to be taught, to sign up as an instructor, etc (‘Contact Us’ link
on our website (http://suffieldarts.tripod.com)).
Qualified Instructors are needed to offer quality programs. If
you teach an art, please contact us about offering a program. Programs can consist
of either a series of classes or a one-day session.
