Martha J Galuszka, of West Hartford, will exhibit her artwork in the Pinney Gallery in the Kent Memorial Library starting March 29th through May 9th.
Martha, who is currently pursuing a degree in Fine Arts, with a concentration in printmaking, from the University of Hartford, has a long history of juried art exhibits to her credit, including, most recently, the prestigious West Hartford Art League show this past January.
Her works of etchings and lithographic prints takes advantage of her extensive background in graphic design and illustration. Though printmaking is very technical and physically demanding, Martha states that I love the very things that make it challenging; the choice of methods, the planning as well as the drawing of the image, the rollers, the plates, the presses and especially the papers.Martha enjoys experimenting with different types and colors of paper, often testing her print with many papers to determine which is correct for the image. She states that choosing the paper is such an important part of a print that it cannot be ignored. The right paper makes the image.
A reception is planned for Saturday, April 5th from 1 to 3pm for the artist.
